The purpose of making DV movies is to reach an audience ,Problem is that many films fail to find an audience. There may only be a cast and crew screening and a couple of festival appearances before all your hard work is sitting in a boot fair box or as a blank faced vhs in someone's collection or just stuck on a shelf somewhere,
If like me a film-makers with out a pot to piss in ,But endless supply of ideas and borrowed kit from everyone and anyone , The chances of blockbuster distribution are almost nonexistent. Getting it into festivals cost money and now days these at least one film festival a day in the world
!But with
all that I still get out and make films and create the 48hr challenge
each year ,which is an event which I is there to inspire other film makers
to inspire me to keep going ,As most of the year IM planning to do something
New ,The best feeling in the world is getting film makers doing something
they love for free with no catch ,An event run by a film maker for film
makers for once ,People have tired to take my event from me to promote
themselves and there name ,Me I do it for the film makers ,Why COs no
one does anything for anyone else unless they get something out of it
,Me I do it for the buzz of knowing I've done something to help the British
film industry ,Film makers learn how to make a film in 48hrs no fees no
reading who to do it out of a book on how someone else makes a movie or
do a film course we're you spend three years watching old classics and
never getting hands on exp of the joy of film making ,My event is a way
new and old talents can be inspired and have some real fun
The idea is to promote others in film ,Its never been done before for
so many people before, Most people think IM mad to promote other film
makers into the industry !What's bad about promoting new talent ,More
like the people who moan are old gits who are worried about losing their
jobs! With that kind of attitude no wonder our industry will never go
forward ,
Most of the industry in the uk is run by friend of a friend close net community and father and son ,Nothing wrong with that ,Why do you think the yanks are coming to the uk to make films cos we have the best crews in the world and im proud to be a part of that community ,
Film makers asked me "are you doing these events to get into the industry" I say (No I've just created my own industry out of new talented film makers from all over the uk ) its time for the new talent we have so much talent in our country ,So my event is there to show what they are made of ,In the 2 years of my events I've created over 600 short films from across the uk and got over 6,000 film makers out there making films, I should get a job in the the UK film council for that but no ,Im a threat to the structure I wouldn't spend 25000 on one short film ,I would produce 25 short films and give 1000 to 25 film makers ,I think that would connect with more film makers in a way the uk film council could never do ,I don't knock the film council but in some ways its a up hill struggle to get anything done in the uk without funds ,But thats just an excuse for some ,The only way to learn is by practice ,The more you try the better you become and the more you will learn by just getting an attitude and be focused on what you really want to do .

The Basic
Process
1. Digitize -If your movie has been edited on a final cut pro it already
exists as a digital file so skip this step. Film prints need to be telecined
to dvd. dvds should be digitized onto a hard disk using a computer equipped
with a capture card
.2. Compress - The original movie file, probably in the order of hundreds, if not thousands of megabytes, its too large to transfer effectively over the internet. Your film needs to be compressed to a file format . Popular formats include Quicktime for mac , Realvideo pc and MPEG-2.
Use the 'Save As...' option in a premier pro , or invest in professional packages such as final cut pro or Avid , Upgrading to Quicktime Pro allows movies to be saved out using different formats and Realvideo encore offers as a free download from the adobe site.
3. Upload - Now you have got a finished film
you need to upload it to a webserver so that it can be viewed on the web.
There are loads of free website hosting (with ads) or you go the buy a
domain name with webspace easyspace.com Promote your domain name heavily
on shooting people and uk screen and mandy ,Get it out there what ever
it takes

go make a bloody film and advertise it on shooters to find cast n crew
use your website address as your email address perfect two ads in one,Now

The other way is to sell your film on ebay or on your own website direct to the film maker ,You set up an account so when you recive funds you can then start to produce copys on vhs or dvd and send them a copy,
